How It Works

  1. Connect the console port: Plug your console cable into a Windows machine.

  2. Share via the network: Use Serial to Ethernet Connector to share the local console port over the network.

  3. Remote access: Access the console port from anywhere using TCP or RFC2217 with any terminal application, such as PuTTY.

How to share a serial-connected console port over Ethernet

Install the Serial to Ethernet Connector software on the computer running the communication software and the machine connected to the console port.
Select your OS on the website, download the installer and run it

Set up the TCP service via telnet on the computer connected to the console port.
Select “Server connection” and choose Telnet in “Network settings”

Configure a virtual serial port on the machine running the communication software to connect to the console port.
Choose “Client connection” on the remote machine

You can now access and control the console port as if you had a physical connection to the equipment.
